Oklahoma Onion Burgers
Oklahoma Onion Burgers Dish Guide
Five in 25
Serves 3
Five Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80-85% lean)
Yellow mustard
1 large yellow or sweet onion
6 slices of American or cheddar cheese
3-6 potato buns
Peel the onion and slice very thinly with a knife or mandolin.
Form the beef into roughly 2.5 oz patties (slightly larger than a golf ball). Heat a lagre skillet over medium high heat and place in two balls of beef. Top with a handful of onion slices and use a large spatula to smash and flatten the beef into patties. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown on the first side. Flip over, top with cheese and the top bun followed by the bottom bun to allow the bread to steam. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes and remove from the heat. Repeat with remaining beef.
Spread 1 T of mustard over the bottom bun and top with one or both patties and the top bun.
Serve with a side salad, fries, or chips.
