Homemade Hamburger Helper

Serves 4

Five Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef

8 oz Monterey jack cheese

8 oz cavatappi

1 ½ cup milk

2 taco seasoning packets

Add the ground beef to a skillet (add a T of olive oil if needed). Crumble and cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until cooked through. Add the taco seasoning packets and stir for 1 minute. Add the pasta and milk followed by 1 and ½ cups of water. Bring to a simmer and stir everything, making sure the pasta is nestled in the liquid.

Cover and cook at a simmer for 10-15 minutes or until pasta is cooked through and most of the liquid has been absorbed. If it gets too dry add a splash more water or milk. Add the cheese and turn off the heat. Stir the cheese in until it’s melted and incorporated into the sauce.

Serve immediately garnished with fresh herbs, hot sauce and/or tortilla chip strips.
